Who is Costa Rica Scout?
Hi, my name is Sally O'Boyle, a Florida licensed real estate broker and recovering REALTOR®. Formerly of Key West, Florida (where I still work property management and sales), now living in Escazú, San José, Costa Rica.
In January 2006, we moved to Costa Rica on a whim, fell in love with the life. Easy to do, you'll see! The current plan is to live here at least part-time forever, traveling various and sundry places, eventually to retire here.
You'll find my Key West professional life @ the Key West real estate blog, and more than you ever wanted to know about our lives in Costa Rica @ A Broad In Costa Rica. We are permanent residents here (yay!), and I completed the real estate course offered by the Cámara Costarricense de Corredores de Bienes Raíces (the Costa Rica real estate board).
Friends often ask for advice about buying and selling their Costa Rica real estate... and Costa Rica Scout was born. This is actually how most people get started in real estate here: friends ask friends for help. Real estate becomes an addiction! Next thing you know, you need a 12-step program. But, that's another site altogether.
If you are a buyer and would like help, let me know where you are shopping. I know real estate professionals most everywhere in the country and am happy to recommend a full-time, experienced local in your area.
If you are a seller and would like to list a property on Costa Rica Scout, contact me and we'll get you on the site. Our listing agreements are prepared by a local attorney and are in both English and Spanish.
If you'd like to be listed in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in the United States, we can sign a Florida listing agreement. You will be listed immediately in the Key West MLS which is accessible and searchable worldwide.
In any case, you can subscribe so that each time a new listing is added, you'll be notified automatically.
If you have questions, concerns, comments, don't hesitate to contact me. Your phone calls and emails are answered immediately when possible, certainly within 24 hours... unless we are off in a part of the country with no email or phone service. Oh, yes, there are places in Costa Rica with no phone or internet (although fewer and fewer). Welcome to Costa Rica - it's a step back in time when you want it to be!
I look forward to hearing from you.
Pura vida,
Sally
